Satellite Image of the Day: The NOAA/NASA GOES-13 weather satellite captured this image of Hurricane Irene this morning at 10:45 AM EDT. (Embiggen.)

At the time, Irene was nearly a third the size of the entire East Coast.

And if you look closely, there was another trop depression forming off the coast of Africa. Now known as Trop Storm Katia. Heading for the east coast. Again.

AND….there’s some little weak bitch storm in the gulf heading up towards the east coast as well…  This really sucks for them :(  Hope this doesn’t happen.
